Dr. Laura Lopez

Head of Middle School
Dr. Laura Lopez brings more than 20 years of experience in education, with leadership spanning academics, curriculum and program development, admissions, and division headship. She has served as a classroom teacher, Curriculum Director, Head of Lower School, and Head of Middle School, bringing a broad PK–12 perspective and a deep understanding of student development, academic programming, faculty leadership, and family engagement.

Dr. Lopez holds a Bachelor of Science from St. Xavier University, a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University Chicago, and a Doctor of Education in Mathematics Education from the University of Houston. Her continued professional development includes Northwestern University’s Certificate in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, Rice University’s Excellence in Mathematics Education certification, the NAIS Aspiring Heads Fellowship, and The Heads Network Headship Accelerator Program.

At the heart of her leadership is a commitment to building strong communities where students are known and challenged, faculty are supported and inspired, families feel a genuine sense of connection and belonging, and a shared purpose brings the community together.

Outside of school, Dr. Lopez enjoys Austin’s outdoor lifestyle, especially time on the lake, is committed to animal rescue, and maintains strong ties to her hometown of Chicago, where she remains a loyal Cubbies, Hawks, and Bears fan!
