Support and enrichment based upon student need, as demonstrated by a neuropsychological evaluation, continues at the Upper School and is housed “Behind the Glass,” an area that is dedicated to this department near the Upper Commons. Our talented staff work to help Upper School students begin to take even more agency over their learning needs while working in tandem with students, faculty, and families. Supervised study hall time and a dedicated testing center are just some of the ways our staff provides support and enrichment.
Embedded in student support from PreK through 12th grade is Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Skills like self-awareness, self-management, and responsible decision-making are central to the success of all students, and great care is taken to strengthen these skills further for each of the students we support. Additionally, our classroom teachers employ innovative teaching practices like project-based learning, service learning, and design thinking to differentiate their instruction and foster a growth mindset in our students. This integrated approach motivates our students to take ownership of their learning while solving real-world problems. These authentic connections give meaning to academic content and drive student achievement.
