Carrie Munnerlyn
6th Grade ELA Teacher
Carrie Munnerlyn began her career in education following the COVID-19 pandemic, inspired by the growing need for dedicated educators. She first served as a playground monitor and substitute teacher at Emmaus Catholic Preschool in Lakeway before becoming a full-time substitute teacher in both Lake Travis ISD and Leander ISD. Carrie then accepted a full-time teaching position at Lake Travis High School, where she has spent the past two years teaching 10th-grade English Language Arts to a diverse range of learners, including Pre-AP, on-level, and special education students. She also served as the sponsor of the Future Initiative Club, where she enjoys mentoring students in leadership and service. Carrie is passionate about helping students thrive academically, socially, and spiritually while fostering confidence, compassion, and a lifelong love of learning.
Before transitioning into education, Carrie built a successful career spanning more than 20 years in advertising and marketing, partnering with high-profile clients and helping them achieve their business goals through strategic communication, creative problem-solving, and relationship-building. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Georgia State University and is passionate about helping students thrive academically, socially, and spiritually while fostering confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
Outside the classroom, Carrie enjoys playing pickleball, practicing yoga, taking outdoor walks, thrifting, and spending time with her two sons, Cole and Cade. Cole is a President's List student majoring in Construction Science and Management at Texas State University, and Cade is beginning his studies in Business Marketing at the University of Arkansas this fall.
