Cindy Herring
PK-8 Academic Dean of Humanities
Cindy Herring has supported students and educators across PK–12 settings for more than 30 years, with deep experience in a variety of school and educational settings. She has served as a language arts teacher, literacy specialist, educational consultant instructional specialist/coach, learning support specialist, and Director of Academics. Cindy brings extensive expertise in curriculum and instruction, vertical alignment, program development, as well as in designing and leading comprehensive learning support systems. Her work is grounded in strengthening teaching and learning across campuses by building cohesive systems, aligning curriculum and instruction, and supporting faculty through meaningful, data-informed professional development and decision making. Cindy earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas State University and her Master of Education in Advanced Literacy from Concordia University. She holds Texas Teacher Certifications in Elementary Comprehensive, Reading, ESL, and ELAR (4–8), and is a Certified Reading Specialist. She is also a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist through CERI/IDA, reflecting her deep commitment to evidence-based literacy instruction and intervention. Cindy and her husband have been married for over 30 years and live at home with their two beloved Shelties. They have a 21-year-old daughter who is currently in college in North Carolina. In her free time, Cindy enjoys reading, exercising, traveling, and exploring all of the fun things Austin has to offer.
