AUSTIN, Texas (April, X 2026) — Few experiences are as unforgettable as your 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C.
Our 8th grade Warriors recently traveled to our nation's capital to bring history to life through numerous immersive, hands-on experiences.
From tours of the U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, U.S. Holocaust Museum, and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, to visiting the National Archives, this trip brought our 8th graders’ classroom learning to life through engaging, interactive experiences showcasing our nation’s history. Students also visited the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorials, the International Spy Museum, and Mount Vernon, along with a variety of other historic sites and monuments.
When asked about their most memorable parts of the trip, students shared how meaningful it was to listen to Holocaust survivor stories, visit presidential memorials to learn about their impact on U.S. history, and make lasting memories with their friends.
Throughout the trip, it brought our educators great joy to watch their students grow in their curiosity and develop a deeper appreciation for history and the role of democracy.
The trip concluded with a celebration of Mass and a final historical tour of Gettysburg.
Our students have made unforgettable memories, growing in confidence and appreciation for our nation’s history.
St. Michael’s Prep is immensely thankful to our travel partner, EF Tours and our outstanding
chaperone team — Mrs. Roy, Ms. Tobbagi, Mr. Hanson, Mr. Winter, and Mr. Herbeck.
There are many reasons to be grateful to be part of the St. Michael’s Prep community, and this trip is a wonderful example. As George Washington once said, “Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.” It was such an honor to see both qualities in our students during the trip.
