Maria Jose Loya
Upper School Computer Science & Technology Instructor
Maria Jose Loya brings a multicultural perspective and a love of innovation to the classroom. Originally from Mexico, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Data Analytics, and recently completed her master’s in Education at the University of Texas at El Paso.
Before joining St. Michael’s Prep, Maria Jose worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Lockheed Martin and served as a tutor and instructional assistant—experiences that ignited her passion for making computer science fun, accessible, and meaningful for all students.
A lifelong learner and adventurer, Maria Jose enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures and cuisines, cooking, working out, and spending time with family and friends. She finds joy in life’s small moments and lives by the motto: Just do it. Whether it’s trying something new or stepping out of her comfort zone, she believes in showing up with courage and purpose.
Maria Jose is thrilled to be part of the St. Michael’s Prep community and looks forward to building strong, lasting relationships with her students and colleagues.
